What is CA Intermediate?
Admission is open throughout the year. This is an Intermediate level course for Chartered Accountancy Course. It lays the foundation for the preparation and presentation of financial statements, practical application of business law and company law in a commercial situation, a basic concept of cost and financial management, gain knowledge of Taxes, objective and concepts of auditing and to develop an understanding of strategic management and techniques. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA CA Foundation – Join Intermediate CA Inter Course after passing the CA Foundation and 10+2 examination. Appear in CA Inter Examination on completion of 8 months of study course as on the first day of the month in which the examination is to be held. Examination held in May and November. Direct Entry Route – The ICAI allows the following candidates to enter directly to its Intermediate Course: A. Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 55% marks) or Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (with minimum 60% marks). B. Intermediate level passed candidates of Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Provisional Registration Candidates who are pursuing the Final Year of Graduation Course can also register for the Intermediate Course on a provisional basis and their registration would be regularized only on submission of satisfactory proof of having passed the Graduation examination with the specified percentage of marks within six months from the date of appearance in the final year graduation examination then they can commence practical training and on completion of ICITSS (Information Technology (IT) and Orientation Course (OC)). During the provisional registration period, a student can undergo and complete ICITSS (IT and OC). If such candidate fails to produce the proof within the aforesaid period, his provisional registration shall stand canceled and the registration and other fees paid by him shall not be refunded/ adjusted and no credit shall be given for the theoretical education undergone. IPCC comprises one paper with two sessions. All papers are of the objective type:
- The examination is conducted twice a year in May and Nov.
- Last date for submission of the application for appearing in the examination
- Last week of Feb. for appearing in May examination.
- Last week of Aug. for appearing in Nov. examination.
- Medium of Examination
The Institute allows the facility to students to appear in examination in English and Hindi medium.
- Passing Criteria
Each subject contains 100 Marks. A student needs to score 40% marks in each subject and 50% of total marks to pass the IPCC exam. The exam can be given group wise or both groups together. The advantage of both group exam is that 50% of the total will be calculated on the total basis not group wise.
How to apply for admission to the Intermediate (IPC) Course / ATC?
A student is required to apply for registration in the prescribed form:
A student can buy a Prospectus for Chartered Accountancy Course either from Regional Offices or Branches of the Institute by remitting Rs.100. The Application form for Registration to the course is supplied alongwith the Prospectus.
Alternatively, Registration Form can be downloaded from Institute’s website www.icai.org. If Registration Form is downloaded from the Institute’s website, students are required add Rs. 100/- or US $ 10 as the case may be with Intermediate (IPC) Course / ATC Registration fee for supply of “Prospectus for Chartered Accountancy Course – Scheme of Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Course and Final Course”.
